The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the global network of systems, devices, digital machines, and people that are connected to the internet. These are all interrelated and are able to interact, collect, and transfer data without the need of human interaction. Any device that can be connected to the internet is part of the Internet of Things; ranging from airplanes and cars to headphones, alarm clocks, or home electronic appliances. Having internet connected devices gives the advantage of effective monitoring and knowing things in advance such as security, consumption, supply levels. It also makes online real-time data accessible and analyzable, leading to justifiable decisions.
